Musnad Ahmad 25:1516

Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 25:1516

I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, from Abdullah ibn Abbas, who said: Al-Fadl was the rider behind the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. A woman from Khath'am came to ask him for a religious ruling. Al-Fadl began looking at her, and she began looking at him. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, began turning Al-Fadl’s face to the other side. She said: "O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Allah upon His servants regarding Hajj has reached my father when he is a very old man, unable to remain steady on the mount. Shall I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes." That was during the Farewell Pilgrimage.
