Musnad Ahmad 25:1551

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, ‘Awf ibn Abi Jamilah narrated to us, from Yazid al-Farisi, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a dream during the time of Ibn ‘Abbas. He said: And Yazid used to write the Mushafs (copies of the Quran). He said: So I said to Ibn ‘Abbas: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a dream." Ibn ‘Abbas said: "For the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say: 'Indeed, the Shaytan cannot resemble me, so whoever sees me in a dream, has indeed seen me.' So, are you able to describe to us this man whom you saw?" He said: I said: "Yes, I saw a man between the two men, his body and his flesh, brownish-white, with a pleasant smile, kohl-lined eyes, beautiful facial features, his beard had filled from this to this, until it almost filled his chest." ‘Awf said: I do not know what else was with this description. He said: Ibn ‘Abbas then said: "If you had seen him while awake, you would not have been able to describe him better than this."
