Musnad Ahmad 25:1557

Mu'tamir narrated to us, from Salam, from some of his companions, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is no *masa'ah* (claiming lineage through illicit sexual relations) in Islam. Whoever claimed a lineage in the Pre-Islamic Period (Jahiliyyah), it has been attached to his paternal kin. And whoever claims a child [born] from other than a legitimate marriage, he shall neither inherit nor be inherited from."
