Ibn Numayr narrated to us, Malik—meaning Ibn Anas—narrated to us, he said: Abdullah ibn al-Fadl narrated to me, from Nafi‘ ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The previously married woman has more right to her own self than her guardian, and the virgin is to be asked for permission regarding her own self, and her silence is her consent."
