Musnad Ahmad 25:1590

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, he said: Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, from Ibn 'Abbas, that a man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "I have not had relations with my wife since the *'ifar* of the palm trees"—or *'iqaruha*. He said: And the *'ifar* of the palm trees or their *'iqar* is that they are pollinated, then they are left for forty days without being watered after pollination. He said: "So I found a man with my wife, and her husband was sallow-complexioned, thin-shanked, and straight-haired, while the one she was accused with was a man with thick shanks, tending toward blackness, and with curly, kinky hair." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "O Allah, make it clear. O Allah, make it clear." Then he performed the *li'an* (oath of imprecation) between them. Then she gave birth to a child who resembled the one she was accused with.
