Musnad Ahmad 25:1626

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from Ibn Khuthaym, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: That the assembly of Quraysh gathered in the Hijr and swore by al-Lat, al-'Uzza, and the third one, Manat, saying: "If we see Muhammad, we will rise against him as one man and will not leave him until we kill him." He said: So Fatimah came, weeping, until she entered upon her father and said: "These are the assembly of your people in the Hijr. They have sworn that if they see you, they will rise against you and kill you; there is not a man among them who does not know his share of your blood." He said: "O my daughter, bring me water for ablution." So he performed ablution, then entered the mosque upon them. When they saw him, they said: "It is he, it is he." They lowered their gazes and remained motionless in their seats; they did not raise their eyes toward him, and not a single man among them stood up. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) approached until he stood over them. He took a handful of dust and threw it at them, saying: "May the faces be disfigured." He said: There was not a man among them who was struck by a pebble except that he was killed on the day of Badr as a disbeliever.
