Musnad Ahmad 25:1660

Rawh narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Yusuf ibn Mihran, from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the verse of debt was revealed, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, the first to deny was Adam (peace be upon him)"—he said it three times. "Indeed, when Allah created Adam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), He wiped his back, and brought forth from it that which He is to create until the Day of Resurrection. He began to present them to him, and he saw among them a man who was radiant. He said: 'O my Lord, which of my sons is this?' He said: 'This is your son, David.' He said: 'O my Lord, how long is his lifespan?' He said: 'Sixty years.' He said: 'O my Lord, increase his lifespan.' He said: 'No, unless you increase it for him from your own lifespan.' "Adam’s lifespan was one thousand years, so he gifted him forty years from his lifespan. Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) wrote a document regarding it and had the angels bear witness to it. "When Adam’s (peace be upon him) time arrived, the angels came to take his soul. He said: 'My term has not yet arrived; forty years of my lifespan remain.' They said: 'Indeed, you gifted them to your son, David.' He said: 'I did not do so, nor did I gift him anything.' Then Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) brought forth the document against him, and the angels established it against him."
