Musnad Ahmad 25:1669

Rawh narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Humayd, from Bakr ibn Abdullah, that a Bedouin said to Ibn Abbas: "What is the matter with the family of Muawiyah? They provide water and honey, and the family of so-and-so provides milk, while you provide *nabidh* (a drink made from soaked dates or raisins). Is it out of stinginess on your part, or need?" Ibn Abbas said: "It is not out of stinginess, nor need. But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us, with Usamah ibn Zayd riding behind him, and he asked for a drink. So we gave him to drink from this—meaning the *nabidh* of the water-dispensing station—and he drank from it and said: 'You have done well; do it like this.'"
