Musnad Ahmad 25:1682

Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Husayn, from Habib ibn Abi Thabit, that Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Abbas narrated to him, from his father, who said: Ibn Abbas narrated to me: That he spent the night with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He woke up during the night, took his siwak (tooth stick), and used it. Then he performed ablution while saying: "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth..." [Al-Baqarah: 164], until he recited these verses, and he finished at the end of the surah. Then he prayed two rak'ahs, in which he prolonged the standing, the bowing, and the prostration. Then he turned away until I heard the sound of sleep. Then he woke up, used the siwak, and performed ablution while saying [the verses], until he did that three times. Then he performed witr with three [rak'ahs]. Then Bilal the mu'adhdhin came to him, so he went out to the prayer while saying: "O Allah, place light in my heart, and place light in my hearing, and place light in my sight, and place light in front of me, and light behind me, and place light to my right, and to my left, and place light above me, and below me. O Allah, increase light for me."
