Musnad Ahmad 25:171

Yahya narrated to us, from 'Uyaynah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, my father narrated to me, he said: A man came to Ibn 'Abbas and said: "I am a man from the people of Khurasan, and our land is a cold land." He mentioned various types of drinks. He said: "Avoid whatever intoxicates, whether it is from raisins, dates, or anything other than that." He said: "What do you say about *nabidh* (fermented drink) in a *jar* (earthenware pot)?" He said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, forbade *nabidh* in a *jar*."
