Musnad Ahmad 25:182

Yahya narrated to us, from Shu'bah, Abu Jamrah narrated to me, and Ibn Ja'far said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu Jamrah, who said: I heard Ibn Abbas saying: When the delegation of Abdul Qays came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he said: "Who are the delegation?"—or he said: "the people?" They said: Rabi'ah. He said: "Welcome to the delegation—or he said: the people—neither disgraced nor regretful." They said: O Messenger of Allah, we have come to you from a distant region, and between us and you is this tribe of the disbelievers of Mudar, and we are not able to come to you except during the sacred month. So inform us of a matter by which we may enter Paradise and inform those who are behind us of it. And they asked him about drinks. He commanded them with four and forbade them from four. He commanded them with belief in Allah. He said: "Do you know what belief in Allah is?" They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: "The testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the establishment of prayer, the giving of zakat, the fasting of Ramadan, and that you give the fifth of the spoils." And he forbade them from the *duba* (gourd), the *hantam* (green jar), the *naqir* (hollowed-out log), and the *muzaffat* (pitch-coated vessel). He said: And perhaps he said: "and the *muqayyar* (tarred vessel)." He said: "Memorize them and inform those who are behind you of them."
