Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 25:203

Ya'la narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from al-Qa'qa' ibn Hakim, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Wa'lah, who said: I asked Ibn Abbas about the sale of wine. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a friend from Thaqif—or from Daws—who met him in Makkah in the year of the Conquest with a waterskin of wine, which he was gifting to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Abu so-and-so, do you not know that Allah has forbidden it?" The man turned to his servant and said: "Go and sell it." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Abu so-and-so, what did you command him?" He said: "I commanded him to sell it." He said: "Indeed, He who forbade drinking it has forbidden selling it." So he ordered it, and it was poured out in the valley.
