Musnad Ahmad 25:289

Yazid narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Yusuf ibn Mihran, from Ibn Abbas, who said: When Uthman ibn Maz'un died, a woman said: "Congratulations to you for Paradise, O Uthman ibn Maz'un." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked at her with an angry look and said: "And what makes you know?" She said: "O Messenger of Allah, your horseman and your companion." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah, I am the Messenger of Allah, and I do not know what will be done with me." The people felt pity for Uthman. When Zaynab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), died, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Join our righteous predecessor, Uthman ibn Maz'un." The women wept, and Umar began striking them with his whip. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took his hand and said: "Gently, O Umar." Then he said: "Let them weep, and beware of the wailing of Satan." Then he said: "Whatever comes from the eye and the heart is from Allah and from mercy, and whatever comes from the hand and the tongue is from Satan."
