Musnad Ahmad 25:476

Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 25:476

Aswad ibn Amir narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Kurayb, from Ibn Abbas, who said: "The name of Juwayriyah was Barrah, and it was as if the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, disliked that, so he named her Juwayriyah, disliking that it should be said: 'He went out from the presence of Barrah (piety/righteousness).'" He said: "And he went out after he had prayed, then he came to her, and she said: 'I have remained since you left, O Messenger of Allah, in a state of devotion.' He said: So he said to her: 'I have said after you some words, if they were weighed, they would outweigh what you have said: Glory be to Allah as much as the number of what Allah has created, glory be to Allah to the extent of His own pleasure, glory be to Allah to the weight of His Throne, glory be to Allah to the extent of the ink of His words.'"
