Musnad Ahmad 25:549

Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 25:549

Hassan ibn Musa narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, Simak narrated to us, Sa’id ibn Jubayr narrated to me, that Ibn Abbas narrated to him, saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was in the shade of one of his rooms, and with him was a group of Muslims, and the shade had almost receded from them. He said: "There will come to you a man who looks at you with the eyes of a devil. So when he comes to you, do not speak to him." He said: Then a blue-eyed man came. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called him and spoke to him. He said: "Why do you and so-and-so and so-and-so insult me?"—naming a group of people by their names. He said: The man went and called them, and they swore by Allah and apologized to him. He said: Then Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, revealed: "They swear to him as they swear to you, and they think..." [Al-Mujadilah: 18]—the verse.
