Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 25:590

Surayj narrated to us, Hushaym narrated to us, Husayn ibn Abd al-Rahman informed us, he said: I was with Sa’id ibn Jubayr, he said: "Which of you saw the star that fell last night?" I said: "I did." Then I said: "As for me, I was not in prayer, but I had been stung." He said: "And what did you do?" I said: "I sought Ruqyah (incantation)." He said: "And what prompted you to do that?" I said: "A Hadith narrated to us by al-Sha’bi, from Buraydah al-Aslami, that he said: 'There is no Ruqyah except for the evil eye or a sting.'" Sa’id—meaning ibn Jubayr—said: "He has done well, the one who stops at what he has heard." Then he said: "Ibn Abbas narrated to us from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, he said: 'The nations were presented to me, and I saw a Prophet with a small group of followers, and a Prophet with one or two men, and a Prophet with no one with him. Then a great multitude was raised up for me, and I said: "This is my nation." It was said: "This is Musa and his people, but look to the horizon." And behold, there was a great multitude. Then it was said to me: "Look to this other side." And behold, there was a great multitude. It was said: "This is your nation, and with them are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment."'" Then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stood up and entered [his house], and the people began to discuss that. They said: "Who are those who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment?" Some of them said: "Perhaps they are those who accompanied the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him." Others said: "Perhaps they are those who were born in Islam and never associated anything with Allah at all," and they mentioned other things. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came out to them and said: "What is this that you were discussing?" They informed him of what they had said. He said: "They are those who do not seek cauterization, do not seek Ruqyah, do not believe in omens, and upon their Lord they rely." ‘Ukkashah ibn Mihsan al-Asadi stood up and said: "Am I one of them, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "You are one of them." Then another man stood up and said: "Am I one of them, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "‘Ukkashah has preceded you to it."
