Hadith 25:630
Abu Nu'aym al-Fadl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Muslim al-'Abdi narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Mutawakkil narrated to us, that Ibn 'Abbas narrated that he spent the night with the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, one night. Then he recited this verse which is in Al 'Imran: "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day..." until he reached: "...Exalted are You; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire." Then he returned to the house, used the siwak, and performed ablution. Then he stood and prayed, then he lay down. Then he returned again and looked at the sky, then he recited this verse. حدثنا أبو نعيم الفضل بن دكين، حدثنا إسماعيل بن مسلم العبدي، قال: حدثنا أبو المتوكل، أن ابن عباس، حدث أنه بات عند نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ذات ليلة، " فقام نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من الليل، فخرج فنظر في السماء، ثم تلا هذه الآية التي في آل عمران {إن في خلق السماوات والأرض واختلاف الليل والنهار} [البقرة: 164] حتى بلغ، {سبحانك فقنا عذاب النار} [آل عمران: 191] ، ثم رجع إلى البيت فتسوك وتوضأ، ثم قام فصلى، ثم اضطجع، ثم رجع أيضا فنظر في السماء، ثم تلا هذه الآية، ثم رجع فتسوك وتوضأ، ثم قام فصلى، ثم اضطجع، ثم رجع أيضا فنظر في السماء، ثم تلا هذه الآية، ثم رجع، فتسوك وتوضأ، ثم قام فصلى "
