Harun ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, he said: 'Amr ibn al-Harith informed me that Bukayr narrated to him, from Kurayb, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, from Ibn 'Abbas: That the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, when he entered the House (the Ka'bah), he found in it an image of Ibrahim and an image of Maryam. He said: "As for them, they have heard that the angels do not enter a house in which there is an image. This is Ibrahim depicted; why is he casting lots?" *** Harun narrated to us—Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: And I heard it myself from Harun—he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, Abu Sakhr informed me, from Sharik ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Namir, from Kurayb, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas: That a son of his died at Qudayd or at 'Usfan. He said: "O Kurayb, see how many people have gathered for him." He said: So I went out, and behold, people had gathered for him. I informed him. He said: "Do you say they are forty?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Bring him out, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'There is no Muslim who dies, and forty men stand over his funeral prayer who do not associate anything with Allah, except that Allah grants them intercession for him.'"
