Musnad Ahmad 25:685

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ascended al-Safa one day and said: "O morning alarm! O morning alarm!" He said: So the Quraysh gathered to him and said to him: "What is the matter with you?" He said: "Do you see, if I were to inform you that an enemy was going to attack you in the morning or in the evening, would you not believe me?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Indeed, I am a warner to you before a severe punishment." He said: Abu Lahab said: "Is it for this that you have gathered us? May you perish!" He said: So Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, revealed: "Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he!" [Al-Masad: 1] until the end of the surah.
