Musnad Ahmad 25:739
Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)
Hadith 25:739
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Maysarah, from Tawus, ‘Ata’, and Mujahid, from Rafi‘ ibn Khadij, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came out to us and forbade us from a matter that had been beneficial to us, and the command of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) is better for us than that which he forbade us from. He said: "Whoever has land, let him cultivate it, or let him leave it, or let him grant it." He said: So I mentioned that to Tawus—and he used to consider Ibn ‘Abbas to be the most knowledgeable among them—he said: Ibn ‘Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) only said: "For whoever has land, that he grants it to his brother is better for him." Shu‘bah said: "And ‘Abd al-Malik used to group these: Tawus, ‘Ata’, and Mujahid, and the one who was narrating from him was Mujahid." Shu‘bah said: "It is as if he was the master of the hadith."
