Musnad Ahmad 25:833

Hasan narrated to us, Hammad bin Salamah narrated to us, from Ali bin Zaid, from Abu Nadrah, who said: Ibn Abbas delivered a sermon to us on this pulpit, the pulpit of Basra. He said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There was no prophet but that he had a supplication which he fulfilled in the world, and I have hidden my supplication as an intercession for my nation. I am the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, and it is no boast. I am the first for whom the earth will split open, and it is no boast. In my hand will be the banner of praise, and it is no boast; Adam and those below him will be under my banner." He said: "The Day of Resurrection will be prolonged for the people, until some of them say to others: 'Let us go to Adam, the father of mankind, so that he may intercede for us with his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, that He may judge between us.' So they will come to Adam, peace be upon him, and say: 'O Adam, you are the one whom Allah created with His hand, and caused to dwell in His Paradise, and made His angels prostrate to you; so intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' He will say: 'I am not for that; I was expelled from Paradise because of my sin, and nothing concerns me today except myself. But go to Noah, the head of the prophets.' So they will come to Noah and say: 'O Noah, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' He will say: 'I am not for that; I made a supplication that drowned the people of the earth, and nothing concerns me today except myself. But go to Ibrahim, the Khalil (friend) of Allah, peace be upon him.'" He said: "So they will come to Ibrahim and say: 'O Ibrahim, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' He will say: 'I am not for that; I told three lies in Islam, and nothing concerns me today except myself'—the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'He did not intend by them anything except for the religion of Allah: his saying, {I am sick} [As-Saffat: 89], his saying, {Rather, this, the biggest of them, did it} [Al-Anbiya: 63], and his saying to his wife, 'She is my sister'—'but go to Musa, peace be upon him, whom Allah chose for His message and His speech.' So they will come to Musa and say: 'O Musa, you are the one whom Allah chose for His message and spoke to; so intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' He will say: 'I am not for that; I killed a soul without a soul [in retaliation], and nothing concerns me today except myself. But go to Isa, the Spirit of Allah and His Word.' So they will come to Isa and say: 'O Isa, you are the Spirit of Allah and His Word; so intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' He will say: 'I am not for that; [people] took me as a god besides Allah, and nothing concerns me today except myself.'" Then he said: "Do you see, if there were goods in a vessel that had been sealed, would one be able to reach what is in the vessel until the seal is broken?" They will say: "No." He will say: "Indeed, Muhammad (ﷺ), the seal of the prophets, has arrived today, and he has been forgiven his past and future sins." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "So they will come to me and say: 'O Muhammad, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' I will say: 'Yes, I am for it,' until Allah permits for whom He wills and is pleased. When Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, intends to judge between His creation, a caller will call: 'Where is Ahmad and his nation?' We are the last and the first; we are the last of the nations, and the first to be brought to account. The nations will clear the way for us, and we will pass by, with bright faces and limbs from the traces of ablution. The nations will say: 'This nation is almost all prophets.'" He said: "Then I will come to the gate of Paradise, and I will take hold of the ring of the gate of Paradise, and I will knock on the door. It will be said: 'Who are you?' I will say: 'Muhammad.' It will be opened for me, and I will see my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, while He is on His Throne or His Couch. I will fall down prostrate to Him, and I will praise Him with praises that no one before me has praised Him with, and no one after me will praise Him with. It will be said: 'Raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.'" He said: "So I will raise my head and say: 'O my Lord, my nation, my nation.' It will be said to me: 'Bring out of the Fire whoever has in his heart the weight of such and such.' So I will bring them out. Then I will return and fall down prostrate, and I will praise Him with praises that no one before me has praised Him with, and no one after me will praise Him with. It will be said to me: 'Raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.' So I will raise my head and say: 'O my Lord, my nation, my nation.' It will be said: 'Bring out of the Fire whoever has in his heart the weight of such and such.' So I will bring them out." He said: And he said the same thing a third time.
