Musnad Ahmad 25:854

Aswad ibn Amir narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Yusuf ibn Mihran, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The first to deny was Adam" — he said it three times. "When Allah created him, He wiped his back and brought forth his offspring, and presented them to him. He saw among them a man who was radiant. He said: 'O my Lord, who is this?' He said: 'Your son, David.' He said: 'How long is his lifespan?' He said: 'Sixty [years].' He said: 'O my Lord, increase his lifespan.' He said: 'No, unless you increase it for him from your own lifespan.' So he increased it for him by forty years from his own lifespan. Then Allah wrote a document regarding it and made the angels bear witness to it. When He intended to take his soul, he said: 'There remain forty [years] of my appointed time.' It was said to him: 'You gave it to your son, David.' He said: 'So he denied.' He said: So Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) brought forth the document and established the evidence against him, so He completed it for David (peace be upon him) as one hundred years, and He completed it for Adam (peace be upon him) as his lifespan of one thousand years."
