'Affan and Abu Sa'id—the meaning is the same—said: Thabit narrated to us, Hilal ibn Khabbab narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned toward Uhud and said: "By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, it would not please me if Uhud were turned into gold for the family of Muhammad, which I would spend in the way of Allah, and I die on the day I die leaving behind two dinars, except for two dinars that I keep for a debt, if there were one." So he died, and he did not leave behind a dinar or a dirham, nor a male slave or a female slave, and he left his armor pawned with a Jew for thirty sa' of barley.
