Musnad Ahmad 25:896

Aswad narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Jabir, from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas, who said: Cheese was brought to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, during a military expedition. He said: "Where was this made?" They said: "In Persia, and we think that they put dead animal [meat] in it." He said: "Pierce it with a knife, mention the name of Allah, and eat." Sharik mentioned it another time, and added to it: "So they began striking it with sticks."
