Musnad Ahmad 25:905

Yahya ibn Ishaq and Musa ibn Dawud narrated to us, they said: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Hubayrah—Yahya said: from al-A'raj, and Musa did not say: from al-A'raj—from Hanash, from Ibn Abbas, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would go out and pour water, then wipe himself with dust. So I said: "O Messenger of Allah, the water is near you." He said: "I do not know, perhaps I will not reach it." Yahya said another time: "I was with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and he went out and poured water, then he performed tayammum. It was said to him: 'The water is near us.'"
