Musnad Ahmad 28:316

Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Al-Mas’udi and Yazid narrated to us, Al-Mas’udi informed us, from ‘Amr ibn Murrah, from ‘Abdullah ibn al-Harith al-Maktab, from Abu Kathir al-Zubaydi, from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Beware of stinginess, for it destroyed those who were before you. It commanded them to commit injustice, so they committed injustice; it commanded them to sever ties, so they severed ties; and it commanded them to commit immorality, so they committed immorality. And beware of injustice, for injustice will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. And beware of obscenity, for Allah does not love obscenity nor the seeking of it." He said: A man stood up to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which of the Muslims is best?" He said: "He from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe." He said: He or another man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which Jihad is best?" He said: "He whose horse is hamstrung and whose blood is spilled." [‘Abdullah ibn Ahmad said]: My father said: And Yazid ibn Harun said in his narration: Then this man or another called out to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which Hijrah (emigration) is best?" He said: "That you abandon what your Lord dislikes. And there are two types of Hijrah: the Hijrah of the Bedouin and the Hijrah of the city-dweller. As for the Hijrah of the Bedouin, he obeys when he is commanded and answers when he is called. And as for the Hijrah of the city-dweller, it is the more difficult of the two in trial and the greater of the two in reward."
