Hadith 28:378
Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muhajir narrated to us, Urwah ibn Ruwaym informed me, from Ibn al-Daylami—who used to live in Jerusalem—he said: Then I asked him: "Did you hear, O Abdullah ibn Amr, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, mention anything regarding the drinker of wine?" He said: "Yes, I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: 'No one from my nation drinks wine, but that Allah will not accept a prayer from him for forty mornings.'" He said: And I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: "Indeed, Allah created His creation, then He placed them in darkness, then He took from His light whatever He willed and cast it upon them. So, the light reached whomever He willed it to reach, and it missed whomever He willed. Whoever the light reached on that day has been guided, and whoever it missed on that day has gone astray. Therefore, I said: The Pen has dried regarding what is to be."
