Abu Dawud and Abd al-Samad narrated to us—the meaning is the same—they said: Hisham narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Shahr, who said: Abdullah ibn Amr came upon Nawf al-Bikali while he was narrating, so he said: "Narrate, for we have been forbidden from narrating." He said: "I would not narrate while there is a man among me from the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and furthermore from Quraysh." Abdullah ibn Amr said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "There will be migration after migration. The best of the earth—Abd al-Samad said: 'The best of the earth'—is toward the migration place of Ibrahim. The worst of its people will remain on the earth; the earth will cast them out, the soul of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will loathe them, and the Fire will gather them along with the monkeys and the swine." Then he said: "Narrate, for we have been forbidden from narrating." He said: "I would not narrate while there is a man among me from the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and furthermore from Quraysh." Abdullah ibn Amr said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "A people will emerge from the direction of the east; they will recite the Quran, but it will not pass beyond their collarbones. Every time a generation is cut off, another generation will arise, until the Dajjal emerges among their remnants."
