Hadith 28:519

'Attab narrated to us, 'Abdullah narrated to us, Usamah bin Zayd informed us, from 'Amr bin Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in the year of the Conquest, while he was in Makkah, saying: "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of alcohol, carrion, and swine." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about the fat of carrion? For ships are greased with it, skins are greased with it, and people use it for lighting." He said: "No, it is forbidden." Then he said: "May Allah fight the Jews; for when Allah forbade the fats to them, they melted them down, then sold them, and consumed their prices."
