Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, Ya'qub ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Abu Hazim, from 'Umarah ibn 'Amr ibn Hazm, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It is imminent that people will be sifted, a sifting, and there will remain the dregs of people, whose covenants and trusts have become mixed up, and they will be like this," and he interlaced his fingers. They said: "How should we act, O Messenger of Allah, when that happens?" He said: "Take what you recognize, and leave what you disapprove of, and attend to your own private affairs, and leave the affairs of the masses." Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated it to us, with his chain of narration and its meaning, except that he said: "And there will remain the dregs of people, and you will leave the affairs of your masses."
