Hadith 28:611

Abu Sa’id narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Rashid narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Musa narrated to us, from ‘Amr ibn Shu’ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever kills by mistake, his blood money is one hundred camels: thirty *bint makhad* (one-year-old female camels), thirty *bint labun* (two-year-old female camels), thirty *jadh’ah* (four-year-old female camels), and ten *ibn labun* (two-year-old male camels)." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to assess them according to the prices of camels. If they were cheap, he would decrease their value, and if they were expensive, he would increase their value, according to the state of the time. It reached, during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), between four hundred dinars to eight hundred dinars, or their equivalent in silver (*wariq*): eight thousand [dirhams].
