Musnad Ahmad 28:75

Hassan and ‘Affan narrated to us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, ‘Affan said: He said: ‘Amr ibn Dinar informed us, from Suhayb al-Hadhdha’, from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘As, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever kills a sparrow without its right, Allah will ask him about it on the Day of Resurrection." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, and what is its right?" He said: "That he slaughters it by slaughtering, and does not take its neck and cut it off."
