Hadith 45:1
Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj said: Uthman ibn Abi Sulayman narrated to me, from Ali al-Azdi, from Ubayd ibn Umayr, from Abdullah ibn Hubshi al-Khath'ami, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was asked: "Which deeds are best?" He said: "Faith in which there is no doubt, and Jihad in which there is no misappropriation of spoils, and an accepted Hajj." It was said: "Which prayer is best?" He said: "Long standing (in devotion)." It was said: "Which charity is best?" He said: "The effort of one who has little." It was said: "Which migration (Hijrah) is best?" He said: "The one who abandons what Allah has forbidden for him." It was said: "Which Jihad is best?" He said: "The one who struggles against the polytheists with his wealth and his soul." It was said: "Which killing (martyrdom) is most noble?" He said: "The one whose blood is shed and whose horse is hamstrung."
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
