Hadith 26:125

Muhammad ibn Ubayd narrated to us, Aban ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from al-Sabah ibn Muhammad, from Murrah al-Hamadani, from Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has apportioned your characters among you, just as He has apportioned your provisions among you. And indeed, Allah the Almighty and Majestic gives the world to whom He loves and to whom He does not love, but He does not give the religion except to whom He loves. So whoever Allah gives the religion, He has indeed loved him. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, a servant does not attain safety until his heart and his tongue are safe, and he does not believe until his neighbor is safe from his *bawa'iq* (evils/calamities)." They said: "And what are his *bawa'iq*, O Prophet of Allah?" He said: "His oppression and his injustice. And a servant does not earn wealth from a forbidden source and spend from it, except that it is not blessed for him, nor does he give charity from it, except that it is not accepted from him, nor does he leave it behind his back, except that it will be his provision to the Fire. Indeed, Allah the Almighty and Majestic does not erase the evil with the evil, but He erases the evil with the good. Indeed, the foul does not erase the foul."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
