Hadith 26:177

Muhammad—who is Ibn Ja‘far—narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Maysarah, from al-Nazzal ibn Sabrah, from ‘Abdullah, that he said: I heard a man reciting a verse, and I had heard other than it from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. So I brought him to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the face of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, changed, or I recognized dislike in the face of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Both of you are doing well. Those who were before you differed regarding it, so it destroyed them." Shu‘bah said: Mis‘ar narrated to me, from him, and he raised it to ‘Abdullah, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "So do not differ."
