Musnad Ahmad 26:261

Yahya ibn Zakariyya narrated to us, from Isra'il, from Abu Fazara, from Abu Zayd, the freed slave of 'Amr ibn Hurayth, from Ibn Mas'ud, who said: I was with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on the night he met the Jinn. He said, "Do you have any water with you?" I said, "No." He said, "What is this in the water skin?" I said, "Nabidh (date-infused water)." He said, "Show it to me. A good date and pure water." Then he performed ablution from it, and then he led us in prayer.
