Musnad ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (RA)

Hadith 26:285

Abu Qatan narrated to us, al-Mas'udi narrated to us, from al-Hasan ibn Sa'd, from 'Abd al-Rahman, from 'Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stopped at a place. A man went off to a thicket and took from it the eggs of a *humra* (a type of bird). The *humra* came and began fluttering over the head of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the heads of his companions. He said: "Which of you has distressed this one regarding its offspring?" A man from the people said: "I took eggs from it." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Return them."
