Musnad Ahmad 26:3

Hushaym narrated to us, Husayn informed us, from Hilal ibn Yasaf, from Abu Hayyan al-Ashja‘i, from Ibn Mas‘ud, who said: He [Ibn Mas‘ud] said to me: "Recite the Qur’an to me." I said to him: "Is it not from you that I learned it, and you are the one who teaches us?" He said: "I came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, one day, and he said: 'Recite the Qur’an to me.'" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, is it not upon you that it was revealed, and from you that we learned it?" He said: "Yes, but I love to hear it from someone else."
