Musnad Ahmad 26:389

Musa ibn Dawud narrated to us, Zuhayr informed us, from Abu al-Harith Yahya al-Taymi, from Abu Majid al-Hanafi, from Abdullah, who said: We asked our Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, about walking with the funeral procession. He said: "The walking should be at a pace less than a trot. If it is good, it is hastened, or you are hastened toward it. And if it is other than that, then away with the people of the Fire. The funeral procession is followed and does not follow; he is not of us who precedes it."
