Musnad ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (RA)

Hadith 26:401

Rawh and ‘Affan narrated to us—the meaning being the same—they said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, from Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Mas’ud—‘Affan said: From his father, Ibn Mas’ud—who said: Indeed, Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, sent His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to bring a man into Paradise. He entered a church, and there were Jews, and there was a Jew reading the Torah to them. When they reached the description of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, they stopped. In the corner of it was a sick man. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "What is the matter with you that you stopped?" The sick man said: "They reached the description of a prophet, so they stopped." Then the sick man came crawling until he took the Torah, and he read until he reached the description of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and his nation. He said: "This is your description and the description of your nation. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that you are the Messenger of Allah." Then he died. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to his companions: "Prepare your brother."
