Musnad Ahmad 26:611

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, from Abdullah, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he said: "If I were to take anyone from my nation as a close friend (khalil), I would have taken Abu Bakr."
