Musnad Ahmad 26:631

Hajjaj narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu al-Tayyah, from a man from Tayy, from Abdullah, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade us from *al-tabaqqur* (excessive expansion) regarding family and wealth." Abu Hamzah—who was sitting with him—said: "Yes, Akhram al-Ta'i narrated to me, from his father, from Abdullah, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." Abdullah then said: "So what about the people of Baradhan, the people of Medina, and the people of such-and-such?" Shu'bah said: I said to Abu al-Tayyah: "What is *al-tabaqqur*?" He replied: "Abundance."
