Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Sulayman, who said: I heard Abu Wa’il say: ‘Abdullah said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) distributed a distribution. A man said: "Indeed, this is a distribution by which the Face of Allah was not intended." He said: So I came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and mentioned that to him. His face turned red—Shu‘bah said: And I think he said: "And he became angry"—until I wished that I had not informed him. Shu‘bah said: And I think he said: "May Allah have mercy on us and on Moses"—Shu‘bah was in doubt regarding: "May Allah have mercy on us and on Moses"—"he was harmed with more than this, yet he remained patient." This part has no doubt in it: "He was harmed with more than that, yet he remained patient."
