Hadith 26:696

Waki’ narrated to us, Isra’il narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu ‘Ubaydah, who said: ‘Abdullah said: I reached Abu Jahl on the day of Badr, and his leg had been struck, and he was prostrate, and he was fending people off with a sword he had. I said: "Praise be to Allah who has disgraced you, O enemy of Allah." He said: "Is it anything but a man whom his people have killed?" He said: So I began to strike him with a sword of mine that was of no use, and I hit his hand, so his sword fell. I took it and struck him with it until I killed him. He said: Then I went out until I came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, as if I were barely touching the ground, and I informed him. He said: "By Allah, besides whom there is no god?" He repeated it three times. I said: "By Allah, besides whom there is no god." He said: So he went out walking with me until he stood over him, and he said: "Praise be to Allah who has disgraced you, O enemy of Allah. This was the Pharaoh of this nation." He said: And my father added in it, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu ‘Ubaydah, who said: ‘Abdullah said: "And he gave me his sword as a spoil."

حدثنا وكيع، حدثنا إسرائيل، عن أبي إسحاق، عن أبي عبيدة، قال: قال عبد الله: انتهيت إلى أبي جهل يوم بدر وقد ضربت رجله، وهو صريع، وهو يذب الناس عنه بسيف له، فقلت: الحمد لله الذي أخزاك يا عدو الله فقال: هل هو إلا رجل قتله قومه؟ قال: فجعلت أتناوله بسيف لي غير طائل، فأصبت يده، فندر سيفه، فأخذته فضربته به، حتى قتلته، قال: ثم خرجت حتى أتيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، كأنما أقل من الأرض، فأخبرته، فقال: " آلله الذي لا إله إلا هو؟ "، فرددها ثلاثا، قال: قلت: آلله الذي لا إله إلا هو، قال: فخرج يمشي معي، حتى قام عليه، فقال: " الحمد لله الذي أخزاك يا عدو الله، هذا كان فرعون هذه الأمة " قال : وزاد فيه أبي، عن أبي إسحاق، عن أبي عبيدة، قال: قال عبد الله: " فنفلني سيفه "
