Musnad ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (RA)

Hadith 26:736

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ma'mar informed us, from a man, from 'Amr ibn Wabisah al-Asadi, from his father, who said: I was in Kufa in my house, when I heard at the door of the house: "Peace be upon you, may I enter?" I said: "And upon you be peace, so enter." When he entered, it was 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud. I said: "O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, what hour of visiting is this?" And that was at the peak of midday. He said: "The day became long for me, so I remembered someone I could converse with." He said: So he began to converse with me about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and I conversed with him. He said: Then he began to narrate to me, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "There will be a tribulation, in which the one who is sleeping is better than the one who is lying down, and the one who is lying down is better than the one who is sitting, and the one who is sitting is better than the one who is standing, and the one who is standing is better than the one who is walking, and the one who is walking is better than the one who is riding, and the one who is riding is better than the one who is galloping; all of its slain are in the Fire." He said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, and when will that be?" He said: "That is the days of al-Harj (slaughter/chaos)." I said: "And when are the days of al-Harj?" He said: "When a man does not feel secure with his companion." He said: I said: "So what do you command me if I reach that?" He said: "Restrain your self and your hand, and enter your house." He said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you see if a man enters my house?" He said: "Then enter your room." He said: I said: "What do you see if he enters my room?" He said: "Then enter your mosque, and do like this—and he grasped his wrist with his right hand—and say: 'My Lord is Allah,' until you die upon that."
