Musnad ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (RA)

Hadith 26:771

Mu'adh narrated to us, Ibn 'Awn and Ibn Abi 'Adi narrated to us, from Ibn 'Awn, Muslim al-Batin narrated to me, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from his father, from 'Amr ibn Maymun, who said: 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud never missed me—or rarely missed me—on a Thursday—Ibn Abi 'Adi said: on a Thursday evening—except that I would come to him. He said: I never heard him say about anything: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said." Then, one evening, he said: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said"—Ibn Abi 'Adi said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say"—then he bowed his head. He said: I looked at him while he was standing, the buttons of his shirt unfastened, his eyes brimming with tears, and his jugular veins swollen. He then said: "Or less than that, or more than that, or near to that, or similar to that."
