Musnad ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (RA)

Hadith 26:781

'Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: 'Asim ibn Bahdalah informed us, from Abu Wa'il, from Ibn Mas'ud, who said: A man from the Ansar spoke a word in which there was resentment toward the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. My soul did not settle until I informed the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, about it. I wished that I had ransomed myself from it with all my family and wealth. He said: "Musa, peace and blessings be upon him, was harmed more than that, yet he remained patient." Then he informed that a prophet was called a liar by his people, and they wounded him when he came to them with the command of Allah. He said, while wiping the blood from his face: "O Allah, forgive my people, for they do not know."
