Musnad Ahmad 26:889

Nasr ibn Bab narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj, from Ibrahim, from al-Aswad, from Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever asks for something while he is wealthy enough to be without it, it will come on the Day of Resurrection as scratches on his face." And charity is not permissible for one who possesses fifty dirhams, or its equivalent in gold.
