Musnad Ahmad 1:14

Ibrahim ibn Ishaq al-Talaqani narrated to us, he said: al-Nadr ibn Shumayl al-Mazini narrated to me, he said: Abu Nu'amah narrated to me, he said: Abu Hunaydah al-Bara' ibn Nawfal narrated to me, from Walan al-'Adawi, from Hudhayfah, from Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, woke up one day and prayed the morning prayer, then he sat. When it was mid-morning, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, laughed, then he remained in his place until he prayed the first prayer (Dhuhr), the Asr, and the Maghrib, all the while not speaking, until he prayed the last Isha prayer. Then he stood up to go to his family. The people said to Abu Bakr: "Will you not ask the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, what is the matter with him? He did something today that he has never done before." He said: So he asked him, and he said: "Yes, it was shown to me what will happen regarding the affairs of the world and the affairs of the Hereafter. The first and the last will be gathered on a single plain, and the people will be terrified by that, until they go to Adam, peace be upon him, while the sweat is almost bridling them. They will say: 'O Adam, you are the father of mankind, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, chose you; intercede for us with your Lord.' He will say: 'I have encountered the like of what you have encountered. Go to your father after your father, to Nuh: {Indeed, Allah chose Adam and Nuh and the family of Ibrahim and the family of Imran over the worlds} [Al Imran: 33].'" He said: They will go to Nuh, peace be upon him, and say: "Intercede for us with your Lord, for Allah chose you and answered your supplication, and He did not leave a single inhabitant of the disbelievers on the earth." He will say: "That is not with me. Go to Ibrahim, peace be upon him, for Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, took him as a friend (Khalil)." They will go to Ibrahim, and he will say: "That is not with me, but go to Musa, peace be upon him, for Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, spoke to him directly." Musa, peace be upon him, will say: "That is not with me, but go to Isa ibn Maryam, for he heals the blind and the leper and brings the dead to life." Isa, peace be upon him, will say: "That is not with me, but go to the Master of the children of Adam, for he is the first for whom the earth will split open on the Day of Resurrection. Go to Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, so he may intercede for you with your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic." He said: He will go, and Jibril, peace be upon him, will come to his Lord, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: "Give him permission, and give him glad tidings of Paradise." He said: Jibril will take him, and he will fall prostrate for the duration of a week. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: "Raise your head, O Muhammad, and speak, you will be heard; and intercede, you will be granted intercession." He said: He will raise his head, and when he looks at his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, he will fall prostrate for another week. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: "Raise your head, and speak, you will be heard; and intercede, you will be granted intercession." He said: He will go to fall prostrate, but Jibril, peace be upon him, will take him by his upper arms, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will open for him of supplication something He has never opened for any human being ever. He will say: "O my Lord, You created me as the Master of the children of Adam, and it is no boast, and the first for whom the earth will split open on the Day of Resurrection, and it is no boast, until there will come to my Basin more than what is between San'a and Ayla." Then it will be said: "Call the truthful ones (Siddiqin), and they will intercede." Then it will be said: "Call the Prophets." He said: A Prophet will come with a group, a Prophet with five or six, and a Prophet with no one with him. Then it will be said: "Call the martyrs, and they will intercede for whom they wish." He said: When the martyrs have done that, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: "I am the Most Merciful of the merciful. Enter into My Paradise whoever did not associate anything with Me." He said: So they will enter Paradise. He said: Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: "Look into the Fire: do you find anyone who ever did any good?" He said: They will find a man in the Fire, and it will be said to him: "Did you ever do any good?" He will say: "No, except that I used to be lenient with people in selling." Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: "Be lenient with My servant as he was lenient with My servants." Then they will bring out a man from the Fire, and it will be said to him: "Did you ever do any good?" He will say: "No, except that I commanded my children: 'When I die, burn me with fire, then grind me, until when I am like kohl, take me to the sea and scatter me in the wind. For by Allah, the Lord of the worlds will never be able to get hold of me.'" Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say to him: "Why did you do that?" He will say: "Out of fear of You." He said: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: "Look at a kingdom greater than any kingdom, for you shall have the like of it and ten times its like." He said: He will say: "Are You mocking me while You are the King?" He said: "And that is what I laughed at from mid-morning."
