Musnad Ahmad 30:1009

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Fasting is a shield. So when one of you is fasting on a day, let him not behave ignorantly, and let him not use obscene speech. If a man fights him or insults him, let him say: 'I am fasting, I am fasting.'"
